North Shore Montessori School Mission Statement

The Mission of the North Shore Montessori School is to develop the whole child in an environment based on the Montessori Philosophy and Methodology originally developed by Maria Montessori. As educators first and foremost, our goal is that all of our students become confident lifelong learners, with a deep respect for themselves, others and the world in which they live.

The North Shore Montessori School strives to serve the educational needs of children and families located in and around northern New England, by offering an exceptional Montessori education for children age thirty-two months through age six. Our focus in applying Montessori principles is to give each child the opportunity to be nurtured, educated and inspired at his or her own unique pace in order to optimize their personal educational experience.

The Founder

The North Shore Montessori School was founded in 2007 by Margaret Henry, director and head teacher of NSMS. Her intention was to offer an environment rich in Montessori practices. The first year began with nine children, and by the third, has grown to full enrollment.

Ms. Henry holds a BA degree from Lesley University, is an active member of the American Montessori Society, (AMS), and the North American Montessori Teachers’ Association (NAMTA). Her deep commitment in providing a nurturing educational environment ensures and inspires each child to become a lifelong learner. Margaret also serves on the Board of Trustees, at RVCS, a Public Montessori School.

For over twenty years, Margaret has served as a Certified Montessori Head Teacher in the North Shore Community, including Stoneridge Children’s Montessori School, and the  Newburyport Montessori School, and three years at the Summit Montessori School, in Boca Raton, Florida.
